Paul Skinner, the drone pilot convicted of reckless endangerment ("If You Crash a Drone, You Could Land in Jail," Aug. 2017), is lucky his drone did not cause more serious, or even fatal, injuries. As a remote-control airplane pilot for 20 years now, I adhere to the Academy of Model Aeronautics' rules for flying in the national airspace. Unfortunately, because of the relative ease of flying drones, plus the lack of enforcement of laws protecting the national airspace, irresponsible drone operators are giving radio-control pilots undeserved black eyes and horrible publicity.
