Many members of the Clean Air Society of Australia & New Zealand members work, in some way, to make sure our air quality meets government standards. In essence, these standards are driven by possible adverse health outcomes. The nexus for air quality and health is air pollution exposure. Ian Longley, Simon Kingham, Bin Jalaludin and Denise Barnfather joined nearly a thousand delegates from 34 countries in California to uncover the cutting edge of exposure science, and what can be achieved when air quality scientists, geographers and public health scientists work collectively on this problem.rnThe joint conference of the International Societies of Environmental Epidemiology and Exposure Analysis was held in October 2008 in Pasadena, Southern California. Although papers were invited covering all environmental media, it was air quality which dominated proceedings with 31 sessions dealing explicitly with air pollution.
