When growing up on the small island country of Singapore, it had always been impressed upon me that the country faced real sustainability and environmental challenges. Singapore's location was strategic for trade but had no real natural resources, including water. The island country also faced the threat of increasing sea levels. These realities sparked my interest for the environment from a young age. The interest evolved into a passion for environmental issues such as water recycling (which appeared to be the most feasible solution then, in tackling the issue of lack of water supply in Singapore) and climate change.
