16th IUAPPA World Clean Air Congress, Cape Town, South Africa, 29th September to 4th October 2013

The 16th IUAPPA World Clean Air Congress was held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from 29 September - 4 October 2013. This conference is held every three years under the auspices of the International Union of Air Pollution Prevention Associations (IUAPPA), the umbrella organisation for national clean air organisations such as CASANZ, who hosted the 14th in Brisbane six years ago. This year our hosts were the National Association for Clean Air, the South African member organisation. Due to the general lack of discretionary spending among the science community since the recession, the conference wasn't as well attended as the organisers had hoped. Attendance was around two hundred delegates. The meeting was held in conjunction with the South African Government annual workshop on air quality governance for the first two days, which probably doubled the numbers for those sessions.
