EPA Staff Recommends Lower Primary Ozone NAAQS and New Form of Secondary Ozone NAAQS

In an August 2014 final policy assessment, EPA's Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards (OAQPS) recommended that the agency lower the current primary national ambient air quality standard (NAAQS) from its current value of 75 ppb, to a value in the range of 60-70 ppb. In addition, OAQPS recommends that the secondary ozone NAAQS be revised such that the form of the standard would be a cumulative exposure index.
