Super Guppy Delivers Shuttle Fuselage Trainer

NASA's Aero Spacelines' 337SGT Super Guppy Turbine N941NA (c 004) delivered parts of the crew section for the Space Shuttle Full Fuselage Trainer (FFT) to the Museum of Flight in Seattle on June 30. The oversized transport landed at Boeing Field/King County International Airport in Washington, after departing Ellington Field in Houston, Texas, on June 27, and made stops at Dyess AFB, Texas; Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona; March AFB, California, and Travis AFB in the same state, before arriving at its destination. The initial aerial delivery was originally scheduled for June 16, but was delayed by issues concerning the crating of the FFT and its effect on the transport's centre of gravity. As part of the 'Shuttle Celebration' organised at Boeing Field for the arrival, a NASA Northrop T-38N Talon (N920NA, ex 66-8386) was flown in from Travis AFB and displayed alongside N941NA. Two more Guppy flights are scheduled later this summer to bring in the remaining large sections of the FFT.
