FIRE BOMBER

Forty-one years have passed since the first two Canadair CL-215s arrived at Getafe Air Base, Madrid, on February 8, 1971, destined for 803 Escuadron;the predecessor of 404 Escuadron, which was formed in 1973 and in 1980 became Grupo 43. Throughout its four decades the unit has demonstrated great efficiency in fighting forest fires both in Spain and abroad. The unit has received numerous awards and recognition for its work. Such achievements are thanks to the hard work and effort of the aircrews and maintenance personnel, who together have brought out the best of the original Canadair CL-215 and its successors, the Canadair CL-215T and very latest Bombardier CL-415.
