Indian M2000 Payments Start

The French-developed upgrade programme for India's Dassault Mirage 2000 fighters, agreed to in 2010 and signed in 2011, has made another step forward. The first Indian payments for the programme were made on March 8, according to press reports. Two Mirage 2000s are currently in France for the initial upgrades. The bulk of the work is to be carried out at the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd facility in Bangalore, and is expected to add up to 25 years to the aircraft's service life (adding to 51 Indian Mirage Upgrades, August 2011, p16).
