Modernisation of the Royal Saudi Air Force's fleet of five Boeing E-3A Sentry airborne early warning and control aircraft is progressing via a phase programme. On December 14, 2011, the US Department of Defense announced that Boeing had been awarded approximately $50.4 million for the installation and check-out of Group A and B Radar System Improvement Program (RSIP) kits. RSIP replaces obsolete parts and improves the performance of the radar. Work is expected to be completed by October 28, 2013.
