The Japanese defence ministry is investigating policy and legal implications of shooting down foreign military UAVs penetrating its airspace. It follows an incident on September 16 when Japanese F-15J Eagles intercepted a Chinese Harbin BZK-005 in international airspace approximately 125 miles (200km) north of the disputed Senkaku islands.
