Last Electra Departs Europe

The last airworthy Lockheed L-188 Electra in Europe has been retired from service by Atlantic Airlines based at Coventry Airport, Warwickshire. L-188CF G-LOFC (c 1100) departed East Midlands Airport on April 27 on the first leg of its flight to Canada, where it will join the Buffalo Airways cargo fleet based at Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The aircraft had most recently been used to carry parcels for DHL, one of 15 Electras operated by Atlantic over 20 years on a range of cargo flying contracts.
