Operation Serval Airpower Reductions

France has scaled down the number of its aircraft deployed to Africa in support of Operation Serval. Three Dassault Mirage 2000Ds, and one Boeing C-135FR Stratotanker returned to their bases in France on April 15, after leaving Bamako-Senou International Airport, Mali. Two Dassault Rafales returned at the same time from N'Djamena, Chad, joining the tanker and Mirages for the flight to France. The withdrawals reduced the French air commitment to counter Islamic militants in Mali to six Rafales, three Mirage 2000Ds and three C-135FRs.
