The Turk Hava Kuvvetleri (Turkish Air Force, TurAF) will retire the Northrop F-5 Freedom Fighter from active duty in July. Two squadrons currently operate the upgraded F-5 2000 version of the aircraft at Konya, comprising 133 Fib Pence (Claw) and 134 Akrotim Filo, the latter better known as the Turkish Stars display team. No.133 Filo will be the first to relinquish the aircraft. The TurAF took delivery of 212 Northrop F-5A/B, RF-5A and Canadair NF-5A/B Freedom Fighters between 1965 and 1992.
