Upgraded Cockpits for Delta's MD-88 and MD-90s

Delta Air Lines is to upgrade the cockpits of its 182 McDonnell Douglas MD-88 and MD-90 narrowbody aircraft. The airline will install a new avionics suite manufactured by Innovative Solutions & Support Inc of Exton, Pennsylvania, to give both types a standardised glass cockpit. The airline said the new avionics will enable the airliners to fly shorter (more precise) flight paths and take advantage of continuous-descent, required navigation performance approaches. The avionics will also introduce enhanced GPS, a datalink and automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast systems to the aircraft.
