Maastricht Airlines Delays Flight Operations

New Dutch carrier Maastricht Airlines postponed the start of its operation until May 1. It was due to start revenue-earning flights on March 25 (see New Dutch Regional Airline, April, p19). Late delivery of its first Fokker 50, which has put back the carrier obtaining an air operator certificate (AOC), has been blamed for the delay. According to Maastricht Airlines CEO, Hamid Kerboua: "Obtaining an AOC is a complicated process, and on-time delivery of the first plane is an important aspect. Because this aircraft will be delivered four weeks too late, other processes are also delayed.
