Il-76MD-90A Starts Flight Tests

The first manufacturer's test flight by the re-engined Ilyushin Il-76MD-90A transport took place on March 19 at Zhukovsky airport near Moscow. The flight lasted one hour and 55 minutes and achieved a maximum altitude of 32,810ft (10,000m). Russian press reports quoted the aircraft commander as saying, "All systems functioned normally, the aircraft showed good stability and manoeuvrability characteristics." Three production Il-76MD-90A transports are currently being built at the Ulyanovsk Aviastar-SP aircraft manufacturing plant.
