Eskadrille 722 maintains fourteen Merlin helicopters; eight for search and rescue (SAR) and six for tactical troop transport (TTT), from Karup AB, Jutland. These operate alongside other Karup-based helicopters, which currently includes 12 Eurocopter AS550C2 Fennecs and seven Westland Super Lynx Mk90Bs. The first of nine Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawks will join the rotary fleet in 2016. The RDAF received its first three Merlins (configured for SAR) at Karup in January 2006 and three months later the first Danish Merlin took to the air flown by an all Danish crew.
