Tricolore Tridents

The 3rd Helicopter Squadron, or 3° Gruppo Elicotteri, of the Marina Militaire Italians (MMI, Italian Navy) is dedicated to antisubmarine warfare (ASW) and anti-surface warfare (ASuW) using the AgustaWestland AW101. The unit now has ten examples of the Anglo-Italian helicopter at its Naval Air Station Catania base in Sicily and recently passed the milestone of 100,000 flight hours since it was established. Prior to operating the AW101 it flew the SH-3D Sea King.
