Engines Hung on A350 Prototype

Airbus has installed the two Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 engines and the Honeywell HGT1700 auxiliary power unit on the first flight-test A350 XWB (msn 001) at its facility at Toulouse, France. The milestones follow tests of the fuel, pressurisation and communication systems over the preceding weeks (further to A350 XWB: Moving Forward, April, p24). Work is now underway to install flight-test equipment in the aircraft prior to the start of the flight programme. Msn 1's fuselage will then be painted before the aircraft is handed over to the flight test team to prepare for ground engine runs.
