MQ-8C Fire Scout Tests

The Northrop Grumman MQ-8C Fire Scout has carried out simulated deck landing tests at Naval Air Station Point Mugu in California to demonstrate its ability to land on a tilted or pitching deck. The tests were a precursor to an at-sea testing period scheduled before the end of 2014. The Point Mugu testing facility was previously used to certify the smaller MQ-8B Fire Scout version for shipboard operations. The ongoing MQ-8C shipboard integration process also includes electromagnetic interference testing. Since its first flight on October 31, 2013, the MQ-8C prototype carried out 219 flights and logged 287 hours.
