Assembly of Prototype Antonov An-178 Under Way

The fuselage of the prototype Antonov An-178 cargo and military transport has been completed. The aircraft (b 01-01) was unveiled on July 29 at Antonov's facility in Kiev, Ukraine. It is due to complete its maiden flight next year. A further development of the An-148/158 family, the An-178 is equipped with a rear-loading ramp and has been designed as an Antonov An-12 replacement. It will be able to carry 18 tonnes of cargo, 99 soldiers or 80 paratroopers.
