Hunter and Hawk

There are obvious points of comparison between the Hawker Hunter and the smaller British Aerospace Hawk. Both were designed (about 20 years apart, though not for the same roles) and built at the same Hawker Aircraft Ltd (Kingston) factory. The Hunter sold very well and the Hawk (as a trainer) has outsold all comparable aircraft. What is of especial interest here is the way British Aerospace adapted the Hawk trainer to compete in what was seen by the late 1980s as a lucrative light combat aircraft market.
