On october 28, 2004, before an audience of thousands of employees and invited guests, Boeing rolled out the final 757, destined for Shanghai Airlines. A production run of 1,050 is a successful accomplishment by any standards, but the 757 never really enjoyed the fame of its larger cousin, the 747, or indeed its smaller one, the 737. Fame apart, it has proved to be a popular design with airlines and pilots, and when it was introduced in 1982 it brought considerable new technology to the world of commercial aviation.
