THE SECOND Dassault Falcon 6X recently completed its maiden flight. Lifting off from Merignac, near Bordeaux in southern France, the business jet was airborne for two hours, during which it climbed to Flight Level 40 and cruised at Mach 0.85. The flight happened on April 30 and was announced by the manufacturer six days later. The prototype Falcon 6X first flew on March 10 and along with the second will be used to expand the flight envelope and test the aircraft's systems. Another development aircraft will join the flight test programme in the third quarter of this year, becoming the first with a completed interior. It will be used to prove the cabin systems and amenities.The initial production Falcon 6X will be the fourth to fly. It will be fitted with a representative interior and serve as a demonstrator. The Falcon 6X can carry 19 passengers, but a typical interior will seat 12.Certification is expected in 2022.
