In may rnas Yeovilton-based, 847 Naval Air Squadron (NAS) returned to the UK from deployment in Afghanistan on Operation Herrick. The squadron flew five Lynx AH7 helicopters in support of British and NATO troops in the strikingly beautiful, I but dangerous, Helmand Province in the south of the country. The detachment consisted of 27 engineers, eight pilots and four air door gunners from the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Army.
