Initial RAF A330 MRTT Close to First Flight

The first Airbus A330-243 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) destined to serve with the RAF (msn 1033) was rolled out of the hangar at Getafe outside Madrid, Spain, on August 27 after completion of indoor trials following conversion. The aircraft then went through a number of ground tests prior to being handed over to the flight test crew. The first flight was originally due to occur in early September, but had yet to take place by the middle of the month when AIR International went to press.
