AeroSvit-Ukrainian Airlines is part of a resurgent civil aviation scene in Ukraine - recovering as it has from a sudden drop in passenger tiumbers after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Indeed, in the second half of th< 2000s an independent Ukraine became one of the fastest-growing air transport markets in the world.rnSurprisingly, for what was the Soviet Union's third largest city, civil aviation only reached Kiev in 1959. On June 22 of that year the USSR's Council of Ministers ordered that a former military airfield should be transformed into a civilian passenger airport.
