The use of information technology (IT) applications and systems in the hangar is now commonplace and the benefits they bring to any MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) department, either in-house or through a third party provider, are clearly recognised. However, those who use such software inevitably have other IT applications throughout their business that increasingly need to interact in order to produce efficiencies throughout the whole operation. This requirement is of paramount importance to those who develop and supply maintenance software. RAAS is the system from Aviation InterTec Services (AIS) which is designed to provide "a highly integrated browser-based M&E [maintenance and engineering] workflow and data analysis solution" for fleet operators, MRO companies and continuing airworthiness management organisations (CAMOs).
