Airbus' unmanned electric vertical take-off and landing demonstrator, Vahana, is set to move to a new stage of its development after its initial testing phase. The Silicon Valley-based unit of Airbus that developed Vahana, has confirmed the system has completed 138 flights, spending more than 13 hours in the air and flying 487 nautical miles (903km). Vahana is an unmanned system powered by lithium-ion batteries designed to prove electric flight technologies. It is one of two electric VTOL demonstrators Airbus has revealed publicly, the other being the manned CityAirbus.
