Updated Airlander 10 Revealed

BEDFORD-BASED Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV) has unveiled its production Airlander 10, It also confirmed plans to launch production and type certification process, HAV said the aircraft features many changes from the earlier Airlander 10 prototype, grounded in November 2017 after crash-landing during flight testing. The company said "extensive" computational fluid design work and wind tunnel testing at Mercedes Grand Prix refined the Airlander's shape. Flight test data from the first prototype was used to improve handling properties, reduce pilot workload and increase operating limits in winds, HAV explained. A bow thruster will improve low-speed and ground handling while 'unducted' propulsors will aid vectored thrust control.
