Airbus has started flight-testing the first UPS Airlines A300 freighter to undergo a flight deck upgrade. Test flights will continue through February 2020 before it returns to service later next year, the airline said. Under a contract signed in 2017, the cockpits of all 52 UPS A300-600Fs will be retrofitted with Honeywell Primus avionics, including a new flight management system, GPS navigation system, weather radar, integrated aircraft communications addressing and reporting system, an enhanced ground proximity warning system, standby instruments and a central maintenance system. The A300s will also receive LCD display screens and an improved vertical situation display.
