"We have come a long way, and it has been challenging. However, we are about to enter a new era, the future is here" says Lieutenant Colonel Boudewijn 'Bout' Roddenhof. Bout's earlier career was with the Apache attack helicopter community and started working in the Reaper project team in 2013. He was appointed as commander of the resurrected 306 Squadron in the summer of 2017. Roddenhof recently returned from five months at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico where he completed MQ-9 initial qualification training. After finishing the course, he became one of the first two official remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) pilots in the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF), and returned in May to prepare the squadron for the arrival of the new aircraft in 2020.
