Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental Takes to the Skies

On March 20 Boeing 747-8JK N6067E (RC001, c 38636) lifted off from Paine Field, Everett in Washington, at the beginning of the Intercontinental's flight test programme. The first flight started at 0959hrs and lasted four hours and 25 minutes. Boeing 747 Chief Pilot Mark Feuerstein and Capt Paul Sterner were at the controls for the sortie, during which basic handling and performance trials were undertaken. The aircraft reached a maximum altitude of 19,000ft (5,791m) and a speed of 250kts (463km/h).
