On its own initiative and without a contracted requirement from the F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO), Pratt & Whitney is involved in a development effort to improve the fuel-efficiency of its F135 engine for the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning Ⅱ, at the same time offering increased power if required.
