BagramAirfield,Afghani-stan, is being configured forthe long term because an Air Force presence will likely extend well beyond the planned 2014 handover of security to Afghanistan's indigenous forces. New aerial port facilities opened at Bagram recently, as they have at USAF's other main base in the country, Kandahar. Likewise, new dormitories have risen near the abandoned, rotting plywood huts they replace. New office buildings are going up.
