Telestroke: a concept in practice

摘要

The national challenge for stroke services is to delivernevidence-based interventions in a timely fashion [1]. A keyncomponent of this strategy is the use of fast-track systemsnwith stroke-specific assessment tools to rapidly evaluatenpatients presenting with suspected stroke [2]. This leads tonpatients being prioritised and the early initiation of appropriatenclinical assessments and medical investigations. Thisnfacilitates early diagnosis and determination of the aetiologynof the stroke in addition to planning treatment strategiesnaimed at reducing the brain damage caused by the strokenand preventing complications.
