The American oilman demanded $122 million from Central African Republic which prevented him from operating his license in the north of the country. He got $27,000. It seemed a lot of effort for next to nothing. After four long years of arbitration against Central African Republic, RSM Production, a subsidiary of Jack Grynberg's Grynberg Petroleum, was awarded a mere $27,000 in compensation. The arbitration tribunal from the International Center for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) handed down its final verdict on July 11.
