Africa Eversheds brings in John Kemkers to bulk up oil practice

French lawyer Boris Martor is no longer alone at the helm of British law firm Eversheds Sutherland’s Africa department ( AEI 787). The firm has appointed John Kemkers as co-director of its African practice, offering him an office in London. The Zambian-born lawyer has a strong track record in oil and gas, though has mainly worked on assignments covering the Middle East in recent years. Posted at Eversheds’ Abu Dhabi office for a spell, Kemkers also has experience with Morocco and Egypt. He was a member of the Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC) and returned to the country for the Iraq Petroleum conference in February. Kemkers is equally acquainted with Angola, Zambia and Kenya, after working on assignments in these countries.
