Deloitte takes a plunge into Libyan oil for Washington

The Biden administration has commissioned back-toback studies from Deloitte to get a better idea of how to prepare for the recovery of the Libyan oil sector. The first contract, signed on 21 September for nearly $400,000, was initiated by the Interior Business Center (IBC), the federal government's central purchasing agency - a choice that guarantees a certain degree of confidentiality regarding the identity of the sponsoring administration. This "Libya NOC Project" - as the project's been named - will focus on the activities of the influential National Oil Corp (NOC), whose boss Mustafa Sanalla continues to dominate the oil sector in Libya, despite attempts to oust him (AI, 22/10/21) and recurrent infrastructure problems. This project was entrusted to the Italian branch of Deloitte, which performs audit and risk consulting assignments.
