Ivory Coast president Alassane Ouattara is the first head of state from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to have spoken with the head of Guinea's military junta Mamady Doumbouya, who ousted the country's president Alpha Condé on 5 September. According to Africa Intelligence, Ouattara had a long telephone conversation with Col Doumbouya, the leader of the CNRD (Comité national du rassemblement et du développement) on Monday 6 September.
