Last November, Christian Bongo moved into the Villa Saint-Ange, a residence that is as familiar to the financial fraud judges at France's Parquet national financier as it is to the Bongo family. Located in Nice, the property first acquired by Omar Bongo has retained the attentions of the magistrates investigating the "illgotten gains" affair but has not been formally seized - the heirs of the former president still have the right to reside there but not to sell it. During his extended stay on the French Riviera, Christian Bongo has been focusing on obtaining a professional pilot's licence, which could provide him with a useful springboard for making a comeback in business aviation - a sector with which he is very familiar as a former boss of Gabon Airlines.
