Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB) is hoping to open a representative office in Nigeria in the course of the next six months. MCB, which is currently waiting for Central Bank of Nigeria approval for the project, is hoping that the new bureau will help it to develop its oil sector financing business. In 2019, the bank contributed to a $45m loan to finance a refinery in the West Africa region and was also involved in the financing of upstream activities in the Nigerian offshore sector. In 2018, it took over the role of Natixis in a pre-financing deal set up by trading company Augusta with Societe Gabonaise de Raffinage (SOGARA).
