Debt-ridden Lusaka opts for Highgate to burnish its international image

On the matter of restructuring its externaldebt, the Zambian government has turnedto Lazard bank and the law firm White &Case for financial and legal assistance, butits public relations will be handled byHighgate. The consultancy firm signed acontract on 4 December to assist Lusakawith its communications with theinternational community, debt experts andthe media on the subject of the country's$12bn external debt and its recent defaultson payment. Part of its job will be tomonitor international coverage of thecountry's debt and to respond in a timelyand effective manner.
