China's CDM Chine (Compagnie de développement des mines internationales Henan-Chine / Guinée, sometimes called Henan Chine) has reportedly been summoned by the Guinean Ministry of Mines of Abdoulaye Magassouba in order to regularise its situation in the coming weeks. Though it has been operating a bauxite mine in the west of Guinea since 2017, it has still not paid the Conakry government the 10% share of the proceeds stipulated in a previous agreement. Back in 2017 talks also began between CDM Chine and Soguipami, a public company responsible for managing and commercialising state holdings in the country's mines, with a view to the state receiving 15% of the proceeds of the Chinese firm's bauxite production in line with the mining code of 2011. Negotations to reach a deal have been in progress for many months, but now a special commission of officials at the Ministry of Mines is due to be set up to regularise the firm's situation and ensure that the state receives the monies due to it.
