With SCK and Neta, top Turkish forwarding agent Mehmet Kocabasa clinches Turkey-Libya route

Turkey's business offensive in Libya is showing no signs of flagging in the wake of Ankara's political and military support for the Tripoli-based government of Fayez Sarraj (Africa Intelligence, 16/07/20). The decision by Libyan customs on 20 July to outsource the management of electronic cargo tracking notes (ECTNs) to SCK will give the Turkish company unprecedented oversight of all goods imported into Libya by sea: shippers will have to go through it to obtain the precious paperwork. SCK owner and CEO Mehmet Kocabasa is himself very active in shipping (especially oil cargo) via Neta International Transportation. In Turkey, he chairs the committee of forwarders in the powerful IMEAK shipping chamber. The Turkey-Libya maritime route is of primordial importance, since Turkey is Libya's biggest supplier of a range of agrifood, industrial and clothing products, among other merchandise.
