Olam chooses Port Louis over London to registrer its Arise Infrastructure fund

In mid-August, Ocorian, one of the leading fiduciary service providers in Mauritius, incorporated Arise Infrastructure in Port Louis. At the beginning of the year, this fund took over projects previously run by Indo-Singaporean agricultural trading giant Olam in association with the government of Gabon (Africa Intelligence, 01/04/20). Arise Infrastructure is a partnership between Olam and the Nigerian parastatal bank Africa Finance Corp (AFC) and the fund's board members are Gagan Gupta, who heads Olam's African operations, and Samaila Zubairu, AFC's CEO. Arise Infrastructure is set to inherit Olam's shares in the management of the 780-km Transgabonaise motorway between Libreville and Franceville. Olam, in association with the French Meridiam fund, signed a public-private partnership agreement with the Gabonese Ministry of Transport for this project on 24 October 2019.
