GABON Signing bonus: Petronas fills the state’s coffers

By proving to be toughnegotiator, the Gaboneseministry of petrol has come awaywith rather favourable conditionsfor offshore blocks F12 and F13.The Gabonese state should be happywith the signing bonuses negotiated inearly August with Malaysian firmPetronas for offshore blocks F12 (Yitu)and F13 (Meboun), respectively $40million and $23 million. The two blockssit off Gabon’s southern coastline andcover a surface area of approximately4,300 square kilometres.
