During the public unveiling of a new 400,000-ft~2 landing gear test facility in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, Goodrich Chairman, President, and CEO Marshall Larsen not only discussed his company's diverse product line but also placed great emphasis on its long-term relationship with European aircraft manufacturer Airbus. "Today's event is a very proud moment for Goodrich, and marks another milestone in the development of our relationship with Airbus," Larsen said. "The A380 [has] a myriad of Goodrich products onboard." And although the official unveiling of the Oakville test site was indeed the main attraction, talk of the Airbus A380—the largest commercial airliner ever built, which was just three weeks away from its first flight—was buzzing throughout the crowd. Goodrich, who has designed an innovative wing and body landing gear package for the A380, is also supplying the aircraft with its electrical power system, flight controls, automatic ice-detection system, high-density discharge and LED-based light controls, and the primary and standby air data systems.
