Early in 1945 Lincoln B.1s started coming off the production lines, but thei rfirst destinations were to be various establishments for trials and development, and Rolls-Royce at Hucknall received some for engine installation trials. The Telecommunications Flying Unit (TFU) at Defford also had some for radar development. However, most of the 82 built went direct to one of two maintenance units: No 10 ML) at Hullavington or No 45 MU at Kinloss in Scotland, where they languished in open storage. Despite regular airframe work, corrosion set in and they were sold for scrap within four years.
