Spitfire XVI for China

Chinese businessman Yan-Ming Gao acquired Spitfire XVI TE330 at the Bonhams auction at Nelson, New Zealand, on September 14. It is thought that Gao will donate the fighter to the China Aviation Museum in Beijing. The aircraft was the founder aircraft of the RAF Historic Aircraft Flight in 1957, and for the past decade has been under restoration to fly with Don Subritzky in Auckland. The money raised should help Don complete the restoration of his Hawker Hind and Vickers Vildebeest.
